about

This exceedingly rare medley came about as our dear late friend, Ron Hutchinson, one of the original members of a grassroots team who started the "Vitaphone Project" restoring early sound on film short subjects. The Vitaphone process synchronized oversized shellac discs with film footage. Over the years, the discs ended up with record collectors and the films wth film collectors.. these films deliciously capture the earliest window on entertainments of the mid 1920s.. including vaudeville acts, dance bands, comedians, novelty acts, popular singers of the day, some of them who were very famous at the time but may not have made records or otherwise recorded on film! Some of the music they performed were not commercially published anywhere else as sheet music or recorded elsewhere.. so this material is like the holy grail for nerds like us!! This medley was originally performed by Frances Williams "Broadway's Queen of Jazz" for a Vitaphone short film subject. The film portion is still considered lost. Ron H. sent me some soundtracks from lost films that put me over the moon. Long after putting out our version with the best info we had at the time, we called it "the Biscuit Medley". We finally did get the credit info for the musical parts:
1927
"I'm the Only Gal in the World Can Take A Biscuit Apart"
written by Jay C. Flippen and Gilbert Wells

"If It Takes Two Hours"
written by Harry Richman

"It Goes on For Days and Days

opening credits musical intro portion:
