about

Come Into My Parlor (Janet's 1998 Debut Release)

Sweet, Naughty and Lovely Tunes from the 1910's, 20's and 30's

With her sweet voice and ukulele accompaniment JANET KLEIN sings forgotten gems featuring Entertaining Songs, Emotive Ballads and Hot Chansonettes. Her charming 1998 debut CD entitled COME INTO MY PARLOR contains 26 lovely and lively songs performed with an old fashioned girl-next door Depression Era style.

Refreshing, unique and funny, Klein shares such rare tidbits as: Banana In Your Fruit Basket, If I Can't Sell It I'll keep Sitting On It and Nasty Man, plus many more made obscure by the likes of Ruth Etting, Marlene Dietrich, Lil Armstrong (wife of Louis), just to name a few. The breezy, adroit guitar playing of John Reynolds (Grandson of Zasou Pitts) skillfully accompanies Janet on 6 songs and Robert Loveless (producer) adds some nice folksy instrumentation as well. You'll find yourself singing duets along with Janet to these heart felt and saucy melodies.
